In Sefarad, Abraham Abulafia found in every letter a doorway. Nearly eight centuries later, we return to his land for three days of study, listening and creation, walking in his footsteps through Madrid and Toledo.

En Sefarad, Abraham Abulafia encontró en cada letra una puerta. Casi ocho siglos después, volvemos a su tierra para tres días de estudio, escucha y creación, siguiendo sus pasos por Madrid y Toledo.

An in-depth gathering for those already familiar with Abulafia's life and ideas, organised by Beit Abulafia and Explore Sefarad, with Rabbi David Samson and musician Jason Caplan. It is a bilingual gathering: every session, whether given in English or in Spanish, will be interpreted, so you can take part fully in either language.

Un encuentro en profundidad para quienes ya conocen la vida y las ideas de Abulafia, organizado por Beit Abulafia y Explore Sefarad, con el rabino David Samson y el músico Jason Caplan. One of today's leading voices on the prophetic Kabbalah of Abraham Abulafia.

Author of Rabbi Abraham Abulafia Revealed, the Chayei HaOlam HaBa series: the first accessible guide to Abulafia's meditative system, with a translation and verse-by-verse commentary of his central text and a detailed explanation of his breathing techniques, visualisations and letter combinations.

Born in Baltimore and based in Jerusalem, he studied for twelve years under Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook at the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva. He has written books on the teachings of Rav Kook, including Torat Eretz Yisrael, Lights on Orot and The Art of T'shuva, and is a renowned educator, founder and dean of several schools in Israel and the United States.

Jason Caplan

Improvisational guitarist and creator of the Universal Language Room, which he founded in New York in 2004: a participatory experience in which people of different ages, backgrounds and beliefs listen, respond and create together through simple rhythm and melody, with no musical training required. Through The Bridge Institute in Memphis, the programme has worked with schools, faith communities, civic groups and emergency services, and was the subject of a peer-reviewed study in 2020. At Beit Abulafia, a music and visualization centre, he explores the universal Kabbalah of Rabbi Abraham Abulafia, and he created Tzerufim, an interactive meditation app inspired by Abulafia's practice of combining letters.

Guitarrista de improvisación y creador de la Universal Language Room, que fundó en Nueva York en 2004: una experiencia participativa en la que personas de distintas edades, orígenes y creencias escuchan, responden y crean juntas a través del ritmo y la melodía, sin necesidad de saber música. A través de The Bridge Institute de Memphis, el programa ha trabajado con escuelas, comunidades religiosas, entidades cívicas y servicios de emergencia, y fue objeto de un estudio académico revisado por pares en 2020. Alejandra Abulafia

Entrepreneur and founder of Explore Sefarad, which she has led for 18 years. Since 2008 she has designed journeys, congresses and celebrations across Jewish Spain and Portugal for communities, schools, universities and families from around the world, including international congresses of up to 800 participants with full kosher service. Born in Montevideo into the Sephardic Abulafia family, she is also a journalist and photographer, author of the Red de Juderías de España guides and of the book “Ciudades de Sefarad”, and has organised the Abulafia world gatherings of 2022 and 2026. Her work has been featured on Euronews, RTVE, Haaretz and Radio Sefarad.

Empresaria y fundadora de Explore Sefarad, que dirige desde hace 18 años. Desde 2008 diseña viajes, congresos y celebraciones por la España y el Portugal judíos para comunidades, colegios, universidades y familias de todo el mundo, incluidos congresos internacionales de hasta 800 participantes con servicio kosher completo. Nacida en Montevideo en la familia sefardí Abulafia, es también periodista y fotógrafa, autora de las guías de la Red de Juderías de España y del libro «Ciudades de Sefarad», y ha organizado los encuentros mundiales Abulafia de 2022 y 2026.
